When you think of sustainability champions, a cybersecurity company might not be the first to come to mind. But Red Sift is challenging that assumption — starting with something powerful: measurement and transparency.
When you think of sustainability champions, a cybersecurity company might not be the first to come to mind. But Red Sift is challenging that assumption — starting with something powerful: measurement and transparency.
Red Sift’s sustainability journey didn’t begin with a mandate or a marketing push. It started with a deeply personal moment of reflection.
“I’ve seen the changes in coral reefs firsthand since the 1990s. That had a profound impact on me and I knew that as Red Sift grew, we had a responsibility to do more.”
Rahul Powar, Red Sift Co-founder and CEO
Rahul’s passion sparked the initiative, but it quickly became a company-wide effort. “It’s not
just me — the team really cares. Sustainability has become part of how we operate.”

Rather than jumping to solutions, Red Sift is focused on understanding its baseline emissions, including emerging challenges like the energy intensity of AI.
“AI is powerful, but it’s also power-hungry. We’ve been learning what that means for our footprint, and starting to think about how we can optimize without losing performance.”
And the effort is paying off. The company sees optimization as not just good for the planet but essential for long-term scalability.
Beyond the environmental benefits, Red Sift’s proactive approach is already yielding tangible business results.
“More and more, our customers — especially large enterprises — are asking for climate data. Having that ready has been a competitive advantage for us.”
By measuring emissions, engaging staff, and staying ahead of expectations, Red Sift is helping set a new bar in the cybersecurity space.
Asked what advice he’d give to other growing businesses, Rahul emphasized action over perfection.
“Sustainability can feel overwhelming, but it’s not about being perfect. It’s about being curious, proactive, and doing what you can — even small steps matter.”
He urged SMEs to avoid waiting for regulation to catch up. “Larger organizations are already asking suppliers for emissions data. Be ready — it’ll set you apart.”
Internally, Red Sift’s sustainability momentum is organic. Staff engagement is driven by shared values — and as the company grows, they’re exploring more structured ways to embed those values into their operations. Last year, the global team engaged with
several sustainable campaigns in place of their holiday parties. For the London team,
this included supporting local farming, volunteering at Hackney City Farm. While
elsewhere, colleagues took part in litter picking, environmental cleanup activities and
giving back to the local community.
“We’ve seen other companies link bonuses to sustainability outcomes. That’s something we might look at down the line.”
From building a sustainability page to exploring Enterprise measurement tools, Red Sift is laying the groundwork for deeper impact.
The journey hasn’t been without its challenges. Like many, Red Sift grapples with the sheer scale of the climate crisis.
“It’s easy to feel overwhelmed. But I believe in the power of collective action. Every organization — every person — can contribute. I just hope we move fast enough.”
Red Sift’s sustainability efforts reflect the same commitment they bring to their cybersecurity work: thoughtful, rigorous, and quietly ambitious. They’re proving that purpose-driven innovation isn’t just possible — it’s powerful.
In the Rahul’s own words:
“We’re a cybersecurity company, yes. But we’re also part of something bigger — and that matters.”
If your team is thinking about starting (or scaling) your sustainability journey, Red Sift is a great example of where passion, persistence, and a little digital savvy can lead.
