G2 has published its latest ESG Reporting Software Index, and we are proud to share that Trace has ranked number one in two of the four categories assessed: Usability and Results.
We are a small, focused team. Competing in the same category as Workiva, IBM, and SAP and coming out ahead in the metrics that matter most to the people actually doing the work is something we are genuinely proud of.
These rankings are based entirely on verified reviews from real users. No marketing spend influences them. They reflect what customers say when asked directly about their experience.
G2's ESG Reporting Index evaluates software across four dimensions, each scored on a weighted index based on user reviews.
Usability Index: How easy the software is to learn, use, and administer. Trace scored 8.86 out of 10, ranking first in the category ahead of Submit.com (8.52), Denxpert (8.45), and Workiva (8.35).
Results Index: Whether users achieve the outcomes they were looking for. Trace scored 8.58 out of 10, ranking first ahead of Denxpert (8.53).
Relationship Index: Quality of support, responsiveness, and the overall customer relationship. Trace scored 8.68, ranking second in the category.
Implementation Index: How smoothly organisations get up and running. Trace scored 8.18, ranking second in the category.
Across all four indices, Trace ranked in the top two. That is a consistent result, not an outlier.

Trace works with businesses at every stage of their mandatory reporting journey, from first emissions measurement to audit-ready ASRS S2 disclosure. Talk to our team to see how we can help.
For teams navigating mandatory climate reporting under AASB S2 and ISSB standards, usability and results are the two things that actually determine whether a platform is worth using.
Usability matters because climate disclosure sits at the intersection of finance, sustainability, risk, and governance. The people doing the work are not always technical specialists. They need software that reduces complexity rather than adding to it. A high usability score means that real users found Trace genuinely easy to work with, not just easy to demo.
Results matter because ASRS disclosure is not an exercise in box-ticking. Organisations need to produce disclosures that are credible, defensible, and audit-ready. A high results score means users are actually achieving that outcome with Trace, not just generating outputs.
Beyond the index rankings, G2 has placed Trace in the Momentum Leaders quadrant across both the ESG Reporting and Sustainability Management software categories.
The Momentum Grid is based on a combination of user satisfaction and market presence trajectory. Being placed in the Momentum Leaders quadrant reflects both strong customer reviews and growing recognition in the market.
For an emerging platform competing against established enterprise vendors, this placement reflects genuine traction with users rather than category incumbency.
The ESG software market is crowded. Large enterprise vendors have significant brand recognition, large sales teams, and long feature lists. That can make procurement decisions feel straightforward: buy the biggest name and the risk is managed.
What G2's index data shows is that brand size and user experience are not the same thing. Trace's rankings in usability and results reflect something specific: a platform designed from the ground up for climate disclosure, with a team that works closely with customers through their reporting process, not one that sells a licence and moves on.
Organisations that are evaluating platforms for ASRS compliance are welcome to benchmark directly. You can read what customers have said in their own words on our G2 reviews page. We are confident in what the data shows.
If your organisation is approaching mandatory climate reporting and wants to understand what a structured, proportionate path through ASRS looks like with a platform your team will actually want to use, we are glad to talk through it.
Trace is a climate reporting platform specialising in ISSB and AASB standards, helping businesses navigate mandatory climate disclosure with clarity and confidence.
